The workgroup aims to generate, as an end product, guidelines for effective teaching of writing and spelling in different languages and contexts informed by:
1. analyses of the characteristics of orthographic systems and their incidence in learning spelling,
2. understanding of the different environments (monolingual, bilingual, multilingual) in which the acquisition of writing and spelling takes place
3. understanding the factors favouring the development of writing in different contexts,
analyses of the effect of different teaching practices on the acquisition of writing and spelling.
